NEXT MONTHLY VIRTUAL MEETING:  February 19, 6:00 p.m. MST

Subject: This session’s program is an important one to us all though it may not seem that way at first glance.   It is about processes and teaching methods for classes and workshops.   As a former long tenured teacher, I can say from experience, if you want to really know a subject – teach it.   The value to us all will come from learning how to present what we know to others.   This is important to the Guild and the success of the summer Exhibit because if you plan to demonstrate at the exhibit, volunteer to help teach a class in the future, or simply to explain how marquetry is completed as in the written statement needed for each piece of exhibit work.   I believe you will get more out of this program than you currently think now.

WORKSHOP ALERT

The March workshop will be in a different location and on a different date due to library scheduling conflicts at the Erie Community Library location.   The new date is March 7,2026 from 10:30 to 2:30pm at the Carbon Valley Regional Library, Longmont (east of I-25 in what looks like north Firestone.)

ARTISTIC MARQUETRY TECHNIQUES: ONLINE CLASS AVAILABLE
Guild member Rich Gady offers the class through craftsy.com

Following mentoring by renowned marquetarian Silas Kopf, Rich taught marquetry and woodworking for years at Red Rocks Community College in the Greater Denver Area.

Pictured here is an example of Rich’s work for which he is especially well known in the guild.

Rich uses contrasting veneer to create marquetry with shadows on a window sill. It looks three-dimensional, but the entire piece hangs flat on a wall.
