Bending Veneer to Make Curves

I wanted veneer to bend to give me the curves I wanted for “The Ocean.” But the veneer positioned flat would not bend as far as I wanted. After many experiments, I realized that I could take a sheet of veneer, bend the two ends together, and achieve the curve I was looking for. So I cut long strips from multiple sheets of veneer of various colors. Standing the strips on edge, I would be able to curve them for the ocean waves.
I made patterns for the waves out of thin plywood. After positioning the strips on edge to create the curve, I used CA glue to adhere them to each other and to the wood pattern. This method allowed me to blend colors to create the illusion of movement. I continued this method for the various areas of my design.
